Fabric Gift Card Sleeves Add Personal Touch

About susan chandler

Susan Chandler is a former K-12 principal who lives in Wisconsin. She makes one-of-a-kind gift card sleeves that can only be found at Eddie’s World Famous Ribs, a restaurant in Superior, Wisconsin.

“My sister owns a restaurant, and she was using normal boring gift card holders. I looked at them and thought, ‘I can make something way cuter than this!’”

So she did, starting out by drawing a template and applying fabric to the outside, then neatly stitching seams around three sides. Susan quickly learned the frustrations doing each step by hand.

“I needed to speed up my process. How could I make this faster and easier? I was cutting everything out, and it was awful," she said.

A quilter and crafter for years, she was familiar with die boards and presses. She already owned dies from AccuQuilt and an AccuQuilt Studio 2 Fabric Cutter.

"I knew of AccuQuilt dies, but I needed a specific shape for my envelope. I found a custom option on the website and was able to have one made."

Her assembly time has decreased by several hours since ordering her dies.  She keeps up with orders and updates the fabric based on the time of year.

“People love them! We keep them seasonally current, and everyone is excited about what we will do next.”
